The 1,049-foot tower is being developed by Property Markets Group and Greybrook Realty Partners alongside Mohari Hospitality, S2 Development, and Hilton, with Sieger Suarez Architects collaborating with Carlos Ott on the design. John Moriarty & Associates serving as general contractor.

The milestone became apparent over the last few days as new construction photographs circulated online showing the reinforced concrete superstructure beginning its transition into the uppermost volume. Reddit user u/Ant0n61 shared the images to the r/skyscrapers community on August 23, capturing the significance of the moment in five words: “We are on the final cube.”

The accompanying photographs show crews working above the eighth completed volume as the structure begins forming the ninth and most dramatically offset portion of the tower. This final section is particularly important to the overall composition. While the lower cubes shift incrementally as the building rises, the uppermost volume projects considerably farther from the tower’s central axis, forming the pronounced cantilever that has defined renderings of Waldorf Astoria Miami since the development was unveiled.

Miami-based content creator Joel Franco separately documented the same milestone on X on August 23, reporting that the superstructure had reached level 85 as work commenced on the final cube: “Waldorf Astoria Miami has started work on the final cube. It’s up to level 85.”

Waldorf Astoria Miami has started work on the final cube. It’s up to level 85. They’ve since added a new banner telling people to “look up” and advertised that it’ll top off this winter 🚀 pic.twitter.com/WF8YEAhjDX

— Joel Franco (@OfficialJoelF) August 23, 2026

Franco also noted that new signage on the construction site tells passersby to “look up” and advertises that the tower will top off this winter. The level 85 figure refers to the current structural level and should not be read as a direct count of the remaining occupied stories, as the tower’s official program continues to be described as 100 stories.

For much of its ascent, Waldorf Astoria Miami has remained an incomplete version of the form depicted in renderings for years. That is now beginning to change. Eight of the tower’s nine offset glass cubes are structurally legible, and construction of the final volume will introduce the most pronounced shift in the composition. As the remaining floor plates are formed, the tower’s full silhouette will continue to emerge above Biscayne Boulevard. Already one of the most polarizing structures on the Miami skyline, its stacked and dramatically offset volumes have given the supertall a profile unlike any other building in the city.

The pace of construction becomes clearer when compared with conditions earlier this year. YIMBY last posted on the superstructure in February as concrete work passed the 60th floor and entered the sixth cube. Approximately six months later, work has climbed roughly 25 additional levels and reached the final volume. Capform is delivering the turnkey concrete scope.

Curtain wall installation has progressed through the seventh cube, with dark reflective glazing now enclosing substantial portions of the lower volumes. The upper sections remain exposed around the active concrete operation, creating a clear contrast between the completed envelope below and the unfinished slabs, columns, formwork, and temporary protection above as the tower approaches its full height.

The tower’s vertical rise follows one of the largest foundation operations undertaken for a Miami high-rise. In June 2024, John Moriarty & Associates and Capform completed a 31-hour continuous mat foundation pour involving approximately 12,400 cubic yards of concrete, 195 workers, and 1,240 truck deliveries. The pour cleared the way for vertical construction to begin accelerating later that year.

Credit: ArX Creative.

Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami broke ground in 2022 and will comprise 387 private condominium residences and 205 guest rooms, marking the first introduction of the Waldorf Astoria brand to the Miami market, with BAMO handling interior design. The development is supported by $668 million in construction financing from Bank OZK and Related Fund Management secured in 2024.

Credit: ArX Creative.

At 1,049 feet, or about 320 meters, the completed tower will surpass the 300-meter threshold for supertall status, making it the first supertall skyscraper in Florida. Completion is currently anticipated in the second quarter of 2028.

Subscribe to YIMBY’s daily e-mail

Follow YIMBYgram for real-time photo updates
Like YIMBY on Facebook
Follow YIMBY’s Twitter for the latest in YIMBYnews

Uncategorized

Construction has begun on the ninth and final cube of Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami, bringing the…

[15
225,227,226
post-382627","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hialeah","tag-hialeah","tag-hialeah-headlines","tag-hialeah-news
["GET
