{"id":382652,"date":"2026-08-27T14:58:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/382652\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:58:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:58:08","slug":"hurricane-center-to-begin-tropical-storm-dolly-advisories-orlando-sentinel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/382652\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane center to begin Tropical Storm Dolly advisories \u2013 Orlando Sentinel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Hurricane Center on Thursday said it would initiate advisories on Tropical Storm Dolly beginning at 11 a.m. as the Atlantic became more organized overnight.<\/p>\n<p>As of the NHC\u2019s 8 a.m. tropical outlook, the area of low pressure dubbed Invest 96L was located about halfway between Africa and the Caribbean\u2019s Windward Islands in the central tropical Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the current trends continue, advisories could be initiated on a short-lived tropical storm later today. However, environmental conditions are expected to become hostile beginning on Friday, likely ending its chances for further development,\u201d forecasters said.<\/p>\n<p>The NHC gave it a 90% chance to develop in the next two to seven days.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Aug 27 8AM EDT: NHC is monitoring an area in the tropical Atlantic that has a high chance (90%) of development. If the current trends continue, advisories could be initiated on a short-lived tropical storm later today. For the latest information visit <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GrztW6mQJV\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/GrztW6mQJV<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MBUxIR5bFM\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/MBUxIR5bFM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 National Hurricane Center (@NHC_Atlantic) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NHC_Atlantic\/status\/2092945956014575961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">August 27, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After tropical storms Arthur, Bertha and Cristobal, Dolly is next on the list.<\/p>\n<p>Forecast models have its path headed across the northern Caribbean islands by Sunday into early next week, but by then it may just be a disorganized low with some wind and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane season began June 1 and runs through Nov. 30, but the height of hurricane season runs from mid-August through mid-October.<\/p>\n<p>The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration earlier this month updated its seasonal forecast and now expects between seven and 13 named storms this year. Of those, two to six would become hurricanes.
