Broward County Animal Care currently has more than 20 long-term dogs in need of adoption.

Staff describe Smoke as a moderately energized, treat-motivated dog who loves attention and cuddling. He weighs about 45 to 50 pounds, is potty trained and has finished teething.

Shelter officials say long stays can be stressful and boring for dogs, so they provide regular walks, time outside and mental stimulation.

For more information about Smoke and other dogs available for adoption, visit petadoptions.broward.org.

🏠 News From Your Neighborhood

Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com – All rights reserved.

Ryan Mackey

Ryan Mackey is a Digital Journalist at WPLG.
