JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office says it arrested a dozen suspects as part of this year\u2019s National Organized Retail Crime Blitz.<\/p>\n
The three-day operation targeted organized retail theft at two of Jacksonville\u2019s major shopping destinations.<\/p>\n
Working alongside the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, JSO\u2019s Specialized Property Crime Unit detectives and District 3 and District 6 patrol officers identified and arrested 12 suspects at the St. Johns Town Center and River City Marketplace.<\/p>\n
The suspects range in age from 28 to 54 years old. <\/p>\n
JSO says the consequences of retail theft extend beyond store shelves.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese aren\u2019t victimless crimes,\u201d the agency said in a statement. \u201cWhen merchandise is stolen, businesses lose money, and customers like you feel the impact with higher prices.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur work doesn\u2019t end just because the blitz has,\u201d the agency said. \u201cWe are watching for thieves around the clock.\u201d<\/p>\n
