The School District of Lee County congratulated the 165 students who earned their International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma at the end of the 2025-26 school year.<\/p>\n

The IB program offers a rigorous curriculum, provides college credit and offers a 100% Bright Futures Scholarship to students who complete the requirements.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe celebrate our students for the resilience, curiosity and commitment they show every step of the way,\u201d Advanced Courses Coordinator Natalie Elschlager said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir achievements highlight not only their drive, but also the vital support of our families and educators,\u201d she added. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to see the incredible impact they\u2019ll make moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Four high schools in the school district offer the IB program:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Cape Coral High School<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Dunbar High School<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Fort Myers High School<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Riverdale High School<\/p>\n

Fort Myers awarded 69 IB diplomas, Cape awarded 50 IB diplomas, Riverdale awarded 38 and Dunbar awarded eight.<\/p>\n

The school district reported the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is renowned for its demanding academic standards and holistic approach to education.<\/p>\n

To be awarded the IB diploma, students must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Complete six subject courses from different academic areas, including language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics and arts.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Undertake the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, which explores the nature of knowledge across disciplines.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Conduct an independent research project known as the extended essay.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Participate in Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) activities to foster personal and interpersonal development.<\/p>\n
