PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 A group in St. Petersburg wants voters to decide the future of Duke Energy\u2019s agreement with the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">The group, &#8220;Dump Duke&#8221;, filed paperwork with the city to begin gathering signatures for a ballot measure. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">The measure would let voters decide whether the city should switch from Duke Energy to a city-run utility program. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">Duke Energy is still serving St. Petersburg even though its franchise agreement with the city ended this month. The city is waiting on the results of a study into how feasible it would be to switch from Duke Energy to a city-run utility program. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">If the ballot measure moves forward, voters would decide the issue rather than the St. Petersburg City Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
