<\/a>ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\nHalloween Horror Nights is turning 35, and Universal Studios Florida is celebrating the milestone by mixing some of the event’s most familiar faces with brand-new scares. <\/p>\n
Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow are back, along with fan favorites Art the Clown and Eddie Schmidt. But there’s also something HHN fans have never seen before: the largest scare zone in the history of the event.<\/p>\n
For its 35th anniversary, Halloween Horror Nights is bringing back two of its most popular icons \u2014 but with a new story.<\/p>\n
The Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos and Control haunted house takes guests into The Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, where the two iconic characters return with a new twist. Lora Sauls, assistant director of creative development and show direction for Universal’s Entertainment Art & Design team, said the anniversary is a major moment for the event.<\/p>\n
Sauls said Universal wanted to take two of its most popular icons and tell a different story with them this year.<\/p>\n
Another fan-favorite haunted house is taking guests back to the Upside Down. Ten years after audiences were first introduced to Stranger Things, Halloween Horror Nights is bringing the franchise back for one final chapter. Stranger Things 5: The Final Chapter features characters and creatures including Vecna, the Mind Flayer and Demogorgons.<\/p>\n
Ramon Paradoa, a show director with Universal’s Creative Development, Entertainment Art & Design team, said the house focuses on the show’s final season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re focusing on the grand finale, that final season, and bringing our story to an end, much like they did with the show,\u201d Paradoa said.<\/p>\n
Other haunted houses include Hellraiser, Sinners, Evil Dead Burn, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular, Madlands: Caged Cannibals, Cybergoria, and INVASION: Alien Abduction.<\/p>\n
The scares aren’t limited to haunted houses. Guests can also get a taste of Stranger Things with El’s Battery Jerky, inspired by the first episode of the final season. Universal executive chef Jens Dahlmann said food is another way the event tells its stories.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause that’s what we do so well at Universal \u2014 storytelling through food,\u201d Dahlmann said.<\/p>\n
There are plenty of other Halloween Horror Nights treats, including a dessert inspired by Ozzy Osbourne.<\/p>\n
The Prince of Darkness Cake features layers of carrot cake, cream cheese frosting and dark chocolate. Dahlmann said the dessert was one of his favorites to create.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s a carrot cake enrobed in very dark chocolate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
After exploring the haunted houses, guests can take to the streets \u2014 if they dare. Halloween Horror Nights features four scare zones this year, including one Universal says is the largest scare zone ever created for the event. The massive scare zone features different groups of clowns occupying different sections, including Art the Clown.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the largest scare zone we’ve ever done in the history of our event,\u201d Paradoa said.<\/p>\n
In addition to the scare zones, guests can experience two unique street experiences and two live shows. Those include Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir and Stranger Things Rewind.<\/p>\n
