Cape Coral man accused of stealing alcohol caught trying to escape through window of his home<\/p>\n

A Cape Coral man was arrested on Thursday after being accused of stealing Beatbox beverages from a convenience store.<\/p>\n

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to reports of a robbery at a convenience store located in the 800 block of Cape Coral Parkway West at around 2:10 a.m. <\/p>\n

The store clerk told officers that a man had entered the business, concealed several Beatbox alcoholic beverages inside a backpack, and then tried to leave without paying. The clerk confronted the man, later identified as James Eric Johnson Jr., 47, CCPD said.<\/p>\n

Johnson then made violent threats toward the clerk and ran from the store, CCPD said. Officers reviewed security footage and were able to positively identify Johnson as the suspect.<\/p>\n

A search warrant was executed on Johnson’s home with the assistance of the CCPD SWAT team. During the execution of the search warrant, Johnson tried to escape out a back window, but was caught with the assistance of CCPD K-9 Venom, CCPD said.<\/p>\n

Evidence was found throughout Johnson’s home, including the clothes worn during the robbery and empty Beatbox containers. <\/p>\n

Johnson was arrested and faces a charge of robbery without a firearm.<\/p>\n
