{"id":384017,"date":"2026-08-28T23:28:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T23:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/384017\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T23:28:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T23:28:26","slug":"pelican-harbor-seabird-station-frees-survivor-treated-for-about-3-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/384017\/","title":{"rendered":"Pelican Harbor Seabird Station frees survivor treated for about 3 months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 28, 2026 at 7:03 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Updated:\u00a0August 28, 2026 at 7:21 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla.  \u2014 The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, a wildlife rescue service based near North Bay Village, released a male pelican on Friday after treatment for injuries in Miami-Dade County. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pelicanharbor.org\/sarah-lyon\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.pelicanharbor.org\/sarah-lyon\">Sarah Lyon<\/a>, an intake associate at the station, at 1279 79th St. Causeway, said the young brown pelican found in Haulover Beach was in extremely bad shape when admitted in early May. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHe was just looking really down and weak,\u201d Lyon said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">For about three months, veterinarians treated the pelican for fungal lesions in the pouch, ulcers in both eyes, and infections in both ankle joints.
