The Timberwolves finished four strokes clear of runner-up Leon and five ahead of Florida High, using remarkable depth to overcome a tightly bunched field.

Chiles placed four players among the top 12 individually, led by junior Rhys Cochran, who carded a 35 (-1) to earn medalist honors as the only player under par on the day. The Timberwolves’ balanced attack — six players finished at 41 or better — proved too much for the rest of the field to match.

Team Results

The tournament was decided by the four lowest scores from each school, and Chiles had the most depth across the board.

Chiles (154, +10) claimed first place, with Cochran’s 35 anchoring the scoring and Mason Githens (39), Asher Hall (40) and Cole Kendall (40) rounding out the counting card. A fifth Timberwolves player, Jackson Kukla, also shot a 40, giving Chiles insurance that no other team could replicate.

Leon (158, +14) finished second, staying within striking distance behind Solomon Hardy’s even-par 36. The Lions’ counting scores included Hardy, Liam Minton (40), Aubrey Turner (40) and Andrew Suber (42), but Leon lacked the closing depth needed to catch the Wolves.

Florida High (159, +15) placed third and made a strong statement as the lone Class 1A program in the field. The Seminoles were led by Hunter Glantz’s 37, followed by Robbie Vos (39), Eli Shanks (41) and Quinn Mask (42). Florida High’s 159 kept it within a single stroke of Leon.

Lincoln (180, +36) rounded out the field in fourth. The Trojans were paced by senior Chase Fleischer’s 39, but struggled to find scoring behind him. Kale Hurd (43), Bryce Garber (47) and Sutton Suber (51) completed Lincoln’s counting total.

PosTeamScore1Chiles154 (+10)2Leon158 (+14)3Florida High159 (+15)4Lincoln180 (+36)

Best Individual Results

Cochran’s 35 set the tone from the outset, as the Chiles junior carded the day’s only sub-par round and gave the Timberwolves the low score they would build their victory around. He opened in textbook fashion with five consecutive pars, then found his stride down the stretch: a birdie at the 149-yard par-3 sixth, and another at the 391-yard par-4 eighth, which pushed him to two-under with only the course’s toughest test remaining. That closing hole — the 445-yard, stroke index 1 ninth — gave him his only bogey for the day that trimmed his round back to 35 and left him one under par. Even so, the clean card spoke to his command of the day, with eight of nine holes played at par or better and the field unable to produce anyone within a stroke of him.

Hardy was Cochran’s closest pursuer, firing a steady even-par 36 for Leon and finishing as the top Lion. Glantz rounded out the podium at 37, one over par, leading Florida High’s charge.

The chase group was crowded, with three players deadlocked at 39 (+3): Fleischer of Lincoln, Githens of Chiles and Vos of Florida High. Fleischer’s round was particularly notable, as it kept the Trojans within range of the leaders despite the team’s overall struggles.

A logjam followed at 40 (+4), where five players finished — Hall, Kendall and Kukla of Chiles, plus Minton and Turner of Leon — highlighting just how deep both the Timberwolves and Lions ran at the top of their lineups.

PosPlayerSchoolScore1Rhys Cochran (JR)Chiles35 (-1)2Solomon Hardy (JR)Leon36 (E)3Hunter Glantz (SO)Florida High37 (+1)T4Chase Fleischer (SR)Lincoln39 (+3)T4Mason Githens (SO)Chiles39 (+3)T4Robbie Vos (JR)Florida High39 (+3)T7Asher Hall (JR)Chiles40 (+4)T7Cole Kendall (JR)Chiles40 (+4)T7Jackson Kukla (SR)Chiles40 (+4)T7Liam Minton (SO)Leon40 (+4)T7Aubrey Turner (JR)Leon40 (+4)

The result positions Chiles as an early team to watch in Class 3A, Region 1, with a rotation that can score from nearly any slot. Leon showed it has the top-end talent to challenge moving forward, while Florida High’s third-place finish — coming within five strokes of the overall title — should give the Seminoles plenty of confidence as one of the area’s top Class 1A contenders.

The Chiles Timberwolves opened the fall golf season in dominant fashion Wednesday, capturing the Leon County tournament title…

[16
232,234,233
post-384569","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tallahassee","tag-tallahassee","tag-tallahassee-headlines","tag-tallahassee-news
["GET
