Universal\u2019s Halloween Horror Nights<\/a> has hit the streets again. Ten all-new haunted houses are presented at Universal Studios<\/a> theme park. Trends for 2026: Bloodiness up, with a surge in screens and projections in the mazes. Creators have used the word \u201caggressive\u201d to describe this year\u2019s action. We wandered through every house on opening night, thanks to an RIP Tour.\u00a0 Without being horribly spoilery, here\u2019s what we saw and felt.<\/p>\n

Cybergoria<\/p>\n

What we saw: As fate would have it, our last house visited is the first alphabetically. This house has an AI as-fresh-as-today\u2019s-headlines vibe, and, well, that\u2019s scary. Visitors encounter our future robot warlords, and there\u2019s a bunch of them. Universal touts this as the bloodiest house, but \u201cmost unnerving\u201d works too.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: It was the sheer density and intensity of the scare actors. Overheard upon exit: \u201cWe are not OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

What we saw: The house, based on a 2026 movie, starts with a talking animatronic head and continues with loads of blood, jump scares and a stretch with those puffs of air that are surprisingly terrifying. Scare actors seemed intent on making eye contact. Our conga line was held up where a woman takes a jackhammer to a dude who already appeared to be most completely dead.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: Projections used effectively as distractions, an HHN staple, leading to multiple scares.<\/p>\n

Hellraiser<\/p>\n

What we saw: It\u2019s just not autumn in Orlando until you see dangling intralls. The house, of course, has plenty of Pinhead, portrayed by masked people, not mannequins. This is the longest house of the season, Universal says.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: The bloody body count is high.<\/p>\n

H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular<\/p>\n

What we saw: Past HHN icons are presented in an at-home movie festival format. The theme changes frequently, with tours of a graveyard, a visit with the Pumpkin Lord and whiffs of pumpkin spice \u2013 \u2018tis the season.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: The old those schoolroom props are actually lurking, lunging characters.<\/p>\n

What we saw: Sharp-toothed aliens versus farmers in a house that goes by quickly. They are equal-opportunity E.T.s, going after grandpa and a goat. (We are told the family cat sleeps through it but also suspect kitty is one of them.)<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: Bonus scare after we thought we were through.<\/p>\n

What we saw: Lots of tricks going on inside, including the titled floor (unfairly paired with mattresses and jump scares), psychedelic tunnel and general day-glo chaos. Memorable moments include a giant skull and a set of beastly puppets. Dismemberment creates sympathy for Our Jack.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: All those Oddfellows in your face.<\/p>\n

Madlands: Caged Cannibals<\/p>\n

What we saw: Animal-inspired costumes were winners for the scare actors. The setting is an abandoned zoo. It\u2019s littered with severed heads and punctuated with what we\u2019d call a screwy rhino. Bonus ick points for the smell of decay.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: In the end, we found this house more interesting looking than scary, and sometimes that\u2019s OK.<\/p>\n

What we saw: This is a dark house, figuratively and literally, plus foggy effects. The Ozzy appearances keep getting better, culminating in the rocker on a throne. Before that, a big bat sighting and a posing werewolf. High ceilings create space for lots of things to look at. The Crazy Train is cool but it\u2019s very unlike Hogwarts Express.<\/p>\n

What we screamed: Ozzy rules!<\/p>\n

Sinners<\/p>\n

What we saw: This house, based on the Oscar-winning film of the last name from last year, mixes ambiance and jump scares. It\u2019s 1930s Mississippi, where there\u2019s music and vampires. Sunrise creates on-screen burned alive scenes.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: Loads of lurkers and a smoke and mirror stretch.<\/p>\n

\nStranger Things 5<\/p>\n

What we saw: Universal wraps up the \u201cStranger Things\u201d saga with mega demogorgons (plus demodogs), many Vecna moments and melting people with another trip to the Upside Down.<\/p>\n

Why we screamed: Simple horrifying pleasure as a human-size demogorgon appears in the kitchen.<\/p>\n
