Tracking the Tropics: Two areas for potential tropical development<\/p>\n

The NHC has highlighted two areas to watch: one in the Atlantic and one in the Gulf. <\/p>\n

\"Sara<\/a>FORT MYERS, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\n

The Gulf Coast News Storm Team is monitoring two areas for potential tropical development. As of 8 a.m., development odds with both weather disturbances are low. <\/p>\n

The remnants of what was once Tropical Storm Dolly<\/a> continue moving westward over the open Atlantic Ocean, where they have a small chance to redevelop. The National Hurricane Center is highlighting a region east of Florida as a place to watch in the coming week. <\/p>\n

As of 8 a.m., storms are beginning to increase, but there are no signs of organization. The NHC has development odds pegged at 10% over the next seven days. Nothing is set to organize in the next 48 hours. <\/p>\n

In the image above, the remnants of what was once Tropical Storm Dolly are marked by the yellow “x” over the ocean. The area to monitor in the coming week is the region highlighted in yellow north of the Dominican Republic and east of Florida. <\/p>\n

In the Gulf: <\/p>\n

A weak area of low pressure is creating disorganized clouds and storms about 100 miles south-southwest of Pensacola. Development odds are very low. There is only a 10% chance of development over the next seven days. According to the NHC, there is no chance of formation through the upcoming weekend.<\/p>\n

Slow development is possible as this system drifts west, away from the Gulf Coast. <\/p>\n
