(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WALA<\/a>) &#8211; A Baldwin County judge Thursday set a Sept. 24 drug court date for former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Andrew Gillum arrested in Alabama\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1788060464_42_P6DHR5XWT5GIDEOY63EZFEAMXU.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Andrew Gillum arrested in Alabama(Baldwin County, AL Sheriff&#8217;s Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gillum, who was the Democratic Party nominee for governor in Florida in 2018, faces charges stemming from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/2026\/07\/07\/former-candidate-florida-governor-arrested-drug-charges-daphne\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/2026\/07\/07\/former-candidate-florida-governor-arrested-drug-charges-daphne\/\">arrest in Daphne<\/a>. According to his lawyer, Christ Coumanis, Gillum is in an inpatient drug treatment center. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If Gillum were to successfully complete the drug court program, a judge would dismiss the charges. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cUsually, it\u2019s a two-year process in Baldwin County,\u201d Coumanis told FOX10 News. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Coumanis said the court system is trying to work through how the program would work for Gillum, since he lives in Tallahassee. He said out-of-state participants are more the exception than the rule. He said it is possible that Gillum might be able to participate in a program in Leon County, Florida, that would be acceptable to the Baldwin County judge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gillum\u2019s charges stem from a traffic stop on July 2 in Daphne, where Gillum\u2019s wife has family. A judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/2026\/08\/13\/gillum-court-former-tallahassee-mayor-appears-baldwin-county-drug-charges\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/2026\/08\/13\/gillum-court-former-tallahassee-mayor-appears-baldwin-county-drug-charges\/\">revoked Gillum\u2019s bond<\/a> following a failed drug test on Aug. 6. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WALA.
