The incident happened at a home in the 5100 block of E. 8th Lane during a dispute between Arrate-Rodriguez and his 18-year-old neighbor, police said. Officials initially said he is 17 years old.

According to the report, Arrate-Rodriguez and the victim’s father had been involved in a dispute over parking on grass, and that led to a verbal dispute over Arrate-Rodriguez allegedly disrespecting the victim’s sister.

The dispute escalated, and Arrate-Rodriguez pulled out a semi-automatic firearm and shot the victim in the chest and arm, the report said.

The victim’s sister ran to help him and Arrate-Rodriguez pointed the gun at her, which caused her to take cover behind a car, the report said.

“After this (18-year-old) was struck his sister tried to help, she says that this subject pointed the firearm at her, once again over a parking dispute, something so silly, something that should have never made it to this point,” Hialeah Police Lt. Eddie Rodriguez said.

Hialeah Police officials said the teen was taken by a family member to Hialeah Hospital to be treated.

Hialeah Fire Rescue officials said the teen victim was later taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Police said he was recovering in the hospital and expected to survive.

Police said they went to the scene of the shooting and found Arrate-Rodriguez, who was armed, and took him into custody.

Arrate-Rodriguez was later booked into jail. Attorney information wasn’t available.

On Wednesday, a judge denied Arrate-Rodriguez’s bond after hearing from the victim’s mother.

“Listen, don’t give him a bond because this person has no right to shoot someone because of a parking space,” Yania Dominguez told the judge in Spanish.

A dispute over parking led to a shooting in Hialeah that left a teen hospitalized and his 66-year-old…

[15
225,227,226,373
post-385397","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hialeah","tag-hialeah","tag-hialeah-headlines","tag-hialeah-news","tag-miami-dade-county
["GET
