since the gunfire erupted outside her home<\/a>.<\/p>\nIt happened around 3:45 a.m. Saturday along the 1700 block of Northwest Ninth Street in Fort Lauderdale. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was nerve-wracking,\u201d said Kahadeja McCray, Brown\u2019s mother. \u201cI was shocked at first because I heard the gunshots outside, but I didn\u2019t know if she was outside. And then when she came in the house and said she had been shot, it was just a whole bunch of blood everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
McCray said prior to the gunfire, her daughter was inside with a friend doing each other\u2019s hair. <\/p>\n
She said Brown\u2019s ex-boyfriend had been threatening the girl on the phone. <\/p>\n
\u201cSaying if I can\u2019t have you, nobody will,\u201d McCray said. <\/p>\n
That ex-boyfriend is who allegedly came to the house on Saturday morning. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she turned, she just seen him and somebody else coming towards,\u201d McCray said. <\/p>\n
A bullet went through Brown\u2019s arm, hitting an artery and causing the teen to lose a significant amount of blood. <\/p>\n
Her friend was credited with applying pressure until paramedics could rush Brown to a nearby hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want him to go to jail, because I don\u2019t know what mentality you\u2019re thinking at a young 16 years old, that you had a right to shoot at somebody, let alone want to take their life,\u201d said McCray. <\/p>\n
As Brown continues to recover, her mother, brother and grandmother remain by her side as she continues to heal. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, there\u2019s a high power,\u201d said Cynthia Husband, Brown\u2019s grandmother. \u201cWe believe in God, we pray constantly and we know this is his blessing, his will.\u201d<\/p>\n
Local 10 News reached out to Fort Lauderdale police to see if an arrest has been made or for any updates on the case, but have not heard back as of the time of this story\u2019s publication. <\/p>\n
