FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 Cynthia Husband said her 15-year-old granddaughter, who was shot and wounded, remained hospitalized for the second day on Monday in Fort Lauderdale. <\/p>\n

Husband said her granddaughter, Kamani Brown, was the victim of a shooter she knew early Saturday morning<\/a> along the 1700th block of Northwest Ninth Street in Fort Lauderdale. <\/p>\n

Fire rescue personnel took Kamani to Broward Health Medical Center. Kamani\u2019s mother, Kahadeja McCray, told Local 10 News<\/a> that a 16-year-old ex-boyfriend had sent threatening messages. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf I can\u2019t have you, nobody will,\u201d the teenage boy wrote in a text message to Kamani, according to McCray. <\/p>\n

On Sunday, outside of the medical center, McCray told Local 10 News<\/a> that she was still afraid for her daughter\u2019s safety since detectives had not made an arrest. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want him to go to jail, because I don\u2019t know what mentality you\u2019re thinking at a young 16 years old, that you had a right to shoot at somebody, let alone want to take their life,\u201d McCray said<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases who wants to remain anonymous to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. <\/p>\n
