The price of gas in Florida on Monday averaged $3.89, a 3-cent increase over last week and hovering near $4 as travelers head into the Labor Day weekend.<\/p>\n
Although the price is significantly higher \u2014 81 cents more \u2014 than last year at this time, gas prices have remained stable through the summer despite the volatility in the energy market due to the Iran War, according to AAA \u2013 The Auto Club Group.<\/p>\n
Prices have fluctuated week-to-week, but the average state price has hovered around $3.92 over the last 45 days. The national average was $4.08 on Monday.<\/p>\n
Since prices have been consistent, AAA doesn\u2019t expect fuel prices to keep motorists off the road.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany Floridians have been paying around the same price for gas throughout the summer, so there isn\u2019t a lot of sticker shock heading into the holiday weekend,\u201d said spokesman Mark Jenkins. \u201cPeople who have planned a Labor Day getaway are generally still taking that trip.\u201d<\/p>\n
The price for a gallon of unleaded gas on Monday is $4.05 in Palm Beach County, $3.93 in Broward County, $3.91 in Miami-Dade County and $4.16 in Monroe County.<\/p>\n
The most expensive metro markets for gas are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.06), Gainesville ($3.97) and Naples ($3.95).<\/p>\n
