Richard Campbell<\/a>, the vice mayor elected in 2022, identified the woman as his ex-girlfriend. <\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s a relationship that for months she should have left the house,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cFriends, family, we couldn\u2019t get her to do so.\u201d <\/p>\n
Campbell, a Jamaican-American physical therapist who has experience in social work and education, served as a city commissioner from 2018 to 2020. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou can look at my history. I\u2019ve never been accused. My history is public,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cI\u2019ve been around for 35 years, and I\u2019ve never come across anything similar to this.\u201d <\/p>\n
Campbell, who also lived in Cuba, is campaigning for the election of the city\u2019s commission seat four on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not worried, I\u2019m confident,\u201d Campbell said, adding that the case was a smear campaign that was \u201cmeant to disrupt the election.\u201d <\/p>\n
Campbell, the founder of the Caribbean-American Soccer Association, said he looks forward to his defense in Broward County court. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt will play out in court,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cThe public will be aware of the results of it. I\u2019m here, I have nowhere to go.\u201d <\/p>\n
