He spotted the shell\u2019s signature pattern in the waves where the ledge of the shore was. \u201cThis is my first junonia,\u201d Steere said. \u201cOur family has loved the beach for years.\u201d He added that his wife, Crystal, and daughters Piper, 11, and Avery, 7, have all gotten into shelling this summer. \u201cAt this point, it\u2019s mainly the thrill of the hunt for something rare \u2014 we\u2019re set for life on fighting conchs,\u201d Steere said. \u201cBut I love the peaceful mornings at the shore.
