When a famous performer scheduled a Miami stop on their tour, a South Florida man booked tickets. But when the show was canceled, he had a hard time getting a refund. So he called Help Me Howard with Brandon Beyer.<\/p>\n
Like a lot of folks, Paul Krofchik liked South Florida so much when he visited, he moved here.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cYou should live where you vacation. Makes sense, so I did so; now I get to be on vacation every day, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
He spends a lot of time at home with his pups \u2013 but he enjoys going out as well.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cWe go to shows all the time. We go to plays.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of his favorite forms of live entertainment is drag shows.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cStraight, gay, whatever you are, it doesn\u2019t really matter. They\u2019re fun shows to go see, you know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n
So when Sasha Colby \u2013 who won season 15 of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race \u2013 booked a South Florida stop, Paul bought two tickets.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cI was excited about the show because she does a good show. If you watched her, she does a good show; it\u2019s the performance, the outfits.\u201d<\/p>\n
The day of the show arrived, and Paul was ready.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cI went, and I printed them for the show, and the morning of, they said the show was canceled for health reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
The performer had been on tour for months when she canceled the last few stops, telling fans \u2013 her mind and her heart were tired.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cShe won RuPaul. she\u2019s been on tour for a year of nonstop. She hasn\u2019t had a day off.\u201d<\/p>\n
Promoters said refunds would be issued, which is why Paul was so confused when he got an email from the company he\u2019d bought the tickets from asking how the show was.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cSaying, \u2018Do you have any pictures from the concert? Please send them to us so we can put them on our website.\u2019 I said, \u2018There was no concert. How do you not know this?\u201d<\/p>\n
Paul says he had to convince them the event didn\u2019t take place.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cThey basically said to me, \u2018No, it wasn\u2019t canceled. It was there. You missed it.\u2019 I said, \u2018I didn\u2019t miss it. I went there. There was nobody there. There were no lights on.’\u201d<\/p>\n
He\u2019d spent about $150 \u2013 and wanted his money back.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cI\u2019ve called. I\u2019ve begged. I have asked \u2014 anybody I can send an email to, I have.\u201d<\/p>\n
When he couldn\u2019t get it on his own, he called Help Me Howard.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cYou guys were my last resort, saying, \u2018Hey, it\u2019s not a big deal. It\u2019s not a lot of money, but now it\u2019s a point.\u2019 You pay for something, you should get a refund.\u201d<\/p>\n
Howard, they say the show must go on. But when it doesn\u2019t, can you get your money back?<\/p>\n
Howard Finkelstein: \u201cIt depends on the seller\u2019s terms of service. Most sellers, including this one, guarantee refunds if the concert is canceled and there is no plan to reschedule it. Since it wasn\u2019t rescheduled, Paul is entitled to a refund. It\u2019s that simple.\u201d<\/p>\n
We wrote the company too. They said they\u2019d take a look, and they did. They then called Paul and explained there was an issue with his email address. They walked him through a fix and sent his refund.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cI actually got the money, two days ago, in my account, so that was amazing. Thank you very much for that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paul says he can\u2019t wait to go to more shows. He just wants to get his tickets the old-fashioned way.<\/p>\n
Paul Krofchik: \u201cIf I don\u2019t have my tickets in my hand like the old school, in the 80s, I\u2019m not doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Howard says another way you can protect yourself is by using a credit card to purchase the tickets. That way, if you are having trouble with a refund, they can help you dispute the charge.<\/p>\n
