MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Deputies say a man flying to Cuba confirmed with an American Airlines gate agent at Miami International Airport Monday morning that he didn\u2019t have any laptop batteries in his bag \u2015 but what he claimed he did have ensured that he would not make it to the island.<\/p>\n

A Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office arrest report states that the agent was asking Yoel Guevara-Crespo, 33, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, \u201cthe standard security questions\u201d as he was about to board the flight to Camag\u00fcey, Cuba.<\/p>\n

One of those, deputies said, was \u201cDo you have any lithium batteries or incendiary devices in the bag?\u201d<\/p>\n

They said Guevara-Crespo responded, \u201cNo, but I have a bomb.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that point, (the agent) told him that he couldn\u2019t fly and she would be contacting her supervisor,\u201d the report states. \u201c(Guevara-Crespo) stated that he was joking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputies, however, said they did not treat it as a joke, took him into custody on a false bomb report charge and swept his luggage with a K-9 dog, finding no bomb.<\/p>\n

Deputies said Guevara-Crespo\u2019s arrest came one day after another self-proclaimed jokester, Osniel Blanco-Lopez, made a comment<\/a> to another American agent about having \u201ca grenade.\u201d<\/p>\n

That, they said, would land the 52-year-old southwest Miami-Dade man behind bars on the same charge.<\/p>\n

Blanco-Lopez was out of jail on Tuesday, but Guevara-Crespo was still locked up in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond, having faced a judge earlier in the morning.<\/p>\n
