MIAMI \u2014 A student accused of stabbing two of his classmates<\/a> during a fight at Miami Northwestern Senior High School on Monday appeared before a judge a day later as prosecutors said they intend to charge him as an adult.<\/p>\n

The judge ordered the teenager, who has not yet been identified, to remain in \u201csecure detention at this time\u201d and prohibited him from having contact with the victims.<\/p>\n

The case stems from a fight that occurred just before 12:30 p.m. Monday inside a back hallway at the Liberty City school that left an 18-year-old with a stab wound and a 15-year-old with a cut to his hand after an altercation occurred at the school located at 1100 NW 71st St. in the Liberty City neighborhood, according to Miami Fire Rescue officials. <\/p>\n

Authorities said the 18-year-old victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital\u2019s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. The younger student was also hospitalized and was in stable condition.<\/p>\n

The parents of the teen accused in the stabbing told Local 10\u2019s Trent Kelly after Tuesday\u2019s hearing that their son had been mistreated and threatened by other students for days.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was threatening my son, mistreating him,\u201d the teen\u2019s father said. <\/p>\n

A student who spoke with reporters Monday said bullying may have played a role in the confrontation.<\/p>\n

A public defender also said the teen\u2019s arrest report states that he was being jumped by two individuals and initially was the alleged victim.<\/p>\n

Cellphone video circulating on social media shows a crowd of students gathered in a hallway before two teens appear to confront the accused student. The video appears to show the two punching him and stomping on his head while he is on the ground.<\/p>\n

The two teens then run away. The student who had been attacked gets back up and appears to chase them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he got back up, he pulled something out of his pocket, which was a knife and started chasing after the person,\u201d another student said.<\/p>\n

The incident prompted a lockdown at the school as authorities searched for the suspect, according to investigators. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey had the school on lockdown. Like what if he\u2019s chasing after a person with a knife in his hand,\u201d one student said.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed that three other arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Authorities said two of the three individuals are under the age of 18.<\/p>\n
