(WFLA) \u2014 The Humane Society of Tampa bay announced that one of 21 dachshunds rescued from a hoarding situation in Pinellas County <a data-ylk=\"slk:last week;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfla.com\/news\/hillsborough-county\/21-dachshunds-rescued-from-hoarding-situation-brought-to-humane-society-of-tampa-bay\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">last week<\/a> welcomed puppies into the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The non-profit organization <a data-ylk=\"slk:posted;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1aV2BEmddQ\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">posted<\/a> photos of the dachshund and her puppies on Facebook on Tuesday, saying they are &#8220;safe in foster care where they can recover and receive the love and care they deserve.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Humane Society said the dogs were originally transferred to the shelter from Pinellas County Animal Services on August 27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Sherry Silk, the organization&#8217;s CEO, said the dogs arrived with thousands of fleas and rotten teeth among other health issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Humane Society said &#8220;some of the dogs&#8221; are being made available for adoption, emphasizing the importance of a loving and patient home for their recovery. The puppies will be ready for adoption in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;For many of them, so much of what we consider normal is completely new,&#8221; the Human Society said. &#8220;They&#8217;re discovering what it means to feel safe, be cared for, explore, play, and trust the people around them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
