During public comment, one of the first residents to speak described the flooding and a bus stuck in a ditch, saying the conditions were so severe they could be fatal.<\/p>\n
Another resident, who identified herself as a school bus driver, said she could not drop students off at their normal stop because of the flooding.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe never, ever had rain like this and have this much water left on the ground. Water is almost up to our waist. We should not be experiencing this in 2026 in our community,\u201d one resident said.<\/p>\n
Indiantown Village Councilmember Anthony D. Dowling told residents their concerns had been heard and said his own church also experienced flooding.<\/p>\n
Dowling urged residents to comment on an Aug. 29 Facebook post in which he addressed flooding throughout the village. He said he would continue visiting affected areas and work with village staff on improvements.<\/p>\n
CBS12 previously covered the severe flooding<\/a> in the Booker Park neighborhood on Monday after the community received several inches of rain on Saturday. Indiantown began a $2.18 million Booker Park drainage and road improvement project in 2022 to reduce flooding, but residents say drainage problems persist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"INDIANTOWN, Fla.
