JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Private investors are eyeing Jacksonville to potentially be the home of a new large-scale concert and event venue. <\/p>\n
Action News Jax has confirmed that Blasen Capital Market Group, a New York equity firm, and Jacksonville financier Kyle Kane would privately finance the $120 million project. <\/p>\n
Project renderings for \u201cThe Grounds,\u201d provided to Action News Jax by Kane, show the venue would be located at the Cecil Commerce Center Corridor. <\/p>\n
It would feature a venue that could hold 50 thousand people and there would be land for camping and glamping.<\/p>\n
It would also hold over 100 events each year. <\/p>\n
This idea did not sit well with longtime Westside resident Sara Herndon. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t want the traffic. They\u2019re already building houses and everything. We have no country out here anymore,\u201d said Herndon. \u201cTake it back to the city where it goes.\u201d <\/p>\n
But other Westside residents welcome the idea. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat sounds huge,\u201d said Westside resident Curtis Koshuta. \u201cI think it would be a good time and you know give us something to do over here. <\/p>\n
We reached out to the City of Jacksonville for a statement about this potential project:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis group has not engaged with the City of Jacksonville on their proposed project.\u201d <\/p>\n
We reached out to the investors behind the proposal for an interview, but they did not respond to my request.<\/p>\n
