PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 Police are crediting Flock license plate readers with helping make an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run nearly one month later.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtsp.com\/article\/news\/local\/pinellascounty\/police-search-vehicle-suspect-fatal-st-pete-hit-and-run\/67-1f97896e-6fb0-482d-b2e0-444a7be9f3af\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The crash<\/a> happened on Aug. 8 at the intersection of Dr. MLK Street South and 15th Avenue South.<\/p>\n<p>St. Petersburg police said the victim, a 47-year-old woman, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle entered the intersection and struck her.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle then reportedly fled the scene without stopping.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>Following the crash, police began searching for the suspect vehicle described as a dark colored sedan.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle, a red Kia Forte, was later identified on a Flock camera.<\/p>\n<p>Through further investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for the driver, 30-year-old Ashleigh Az&#8217;Janae Zinn.<\/p>\n<p>Zinn was arrested in Hillsborough County late Thursday night and is awaiting extradition to the Pinellas County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>She faces one count of failure to stop\/remain at a crash involving death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"St. Petersburg police credit Flock license plate readers with helping locate the suspect.
