(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\">WWSB<\/a>) &#8211; An RV caught fire on I-75 Friday, sending a smoke plume into the air that could be seen for miles, Charlotte County Public Safety said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The fire broke about 10:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the Kings Highway exit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fire crews found the RV fully involved on the right shoulder. The RV was towing a trailer carrying ATVs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The southbound exit ramp was temporarily closed while firefighters extinguished the fire. One patient was evaluated at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The fire was determined to be caused by a mechanical issue and was accidental. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WWSB.
