A 20-year-old Winter Garden woman died after being struck by a car Friday afternoon while riding an e-scooter in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:43 p.m. on Avalon Road, near Old YMCA Road, troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, a sedan was traveling southbound on Avalon Road, approaching the intersection with Old YMCA Road in the outside lane, as the e-scooter began traveling eastbound in the crosswalk.

The e-scooter entered the direct path of the sedan as a result, the report states, adding a witness told troopers that the sedan had a green traffic signal.

The front of the sedan struck the woman, who was taken to Horizon West Hospital and pronounced dead, troopers said.

The 69-year-old Winter Garden man driving the sedan was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene, according to FHP.

A roadblock was in place for southbound lanes of Avalon Road at the time of this writing, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.

Woman dies after being struck by car while riding e-scooter in Orange County, FHP says Roadblock for southbound…

[11
150358,220,1776,22679,1056,156224,156223,1335,139,141,140,2451,1181,31560,29346,8774,224,192
post-390739","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-orlando","tag-avalon-road","tag-car","tag-crash","tag-e-scooter","tag-fhp","tag-green-traffic-signal","tag-old-ymca-road","tag-orange-county","tag-orlando","tag-orlando-headlines","tag-orlando-news","tag-p-m","tag-place","tag-sedan","tag-southbound-lane","tag-trooper","tag-witness","tag-woman
["GET
