JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 On a rain-soaked evening in north Jacksonville, the Jacksonville University men’s and women’s cross country teams completed their first event of the year, the Florida Intercollegiate hosted by UNF.<\/p>\n
The meet was led by sophomore Isabel DeVos<\/a> on the women’s side, who placed 26th\u00a0overall and by senior Zachary Earley<\/a> on the men’s side who placed 75th.<\/p>\n Friday’s meet was the first of the year and the lone meet of the season in Duval County. Next up for both squads is a trip to the panhandle where the two teams will compete in the FSU XC Invitational on Friday, September 18.<\/p>\n On the women’s side, DeVos kicked off her sophomore campaign with a strong 18:30.54 performance. She was followed by freshman newcomer Kyla Perez Rodriguez<\/a> who logged a 20:00.53 and secured 77th\u00a0place overall. Fellow freshman Kiara Rakes<\/a> earned a top-100 placement in her first college race, ending in 98th\u00a0place with a time of 20:37.32. Freshman Caroline Stickler<\/a> finished her first race as well with a time of 22:00.36.<\/p>\n Junior Alexis Holmes<\/a> finished with a time of 20:14.18 and 89th\u00a0place finish.<\/p>\n As for the men, Earley led the charge with his time of 16:25.07. He was followed by freshman Andrew Boyer<\/a>, who earned a time of 16:54.98 in his first college meet and ended his night in 96th\u00a0place.<\/p>\n Gabe Edwards<\/a> (17:15.12) and Robert Welling<\/a> (17:16.77) finished right beside one another in 113th\u00a0and 114th\u00a0place respectively. Just behind them was junior Ryan Miller<\/a> with a time of 17:27.38. Sophomore Liam Ford<\/a> finished with his time of 17:32.90 while Paul Svilokos<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0finished with his time of 17:33.75, as the pair cross the finish line in 122nd\u00a0and 123rd\u00a0place respectively.<\/p>\n Rounding out the race was Zander Kochen<\/a> (18:02.44), Diego Corchado<\/a> (18:11.78) and Caleb Brigman<\/a> (18:25.24).
