CASSELBERRY, Fla. \u2014 The City of Casselberry will host its annual Latin Jazz and Art Festival on Saturday, Sept. 12, with live music, dance performances, visual art and food vendors.<\/p>\n
The free event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park, 95 Triplet Lake Drive.<\/p>\n
Grammy-winning Puerto Rican flautist N\u00e9stor Torres will headline the festival alongside Emmy-nominated singer and composer Fabiola M\u00e9ndez.<\/p>\n
Music, dance and art throughout the evening<\/p>\n
Kalind\u00e1, from the School of Bomba and Plena Tata Cepeda, will open the event with a performance rooted in traditional Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba.<\/p>\n
Dimas S\u00e1nchez and the Afro Latin Jazz Project will perform later in the evening.<\/p>\n
Torres and M\u00e9ndez are scheduled to take the stage from 7:30 to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
Torres has released 19 albums and won a Grammy for his 2001 album \u201cThis Side of Paradise.\u201d His career has included collaborations with artists including Gloria Estefan, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente and Arturo Sandoval.<\/p>\n
M\u00e9ndez blends folk, jazz and Afro-Caribbean influences in music inspired by Puerto Rican culture and identity.<\/p>\n
Galleries, vendors also part of festival<\/p>\n
Latin visual artists will display paintings, sculptures and mixed-media works at Casselberry City Hall, the Art House, Art Center and Sculpture House from 5 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
Food and product vendors will be open throughout the event, with a focus on Latin cuisine.<\/p>\n
