Sep 08 (Field Level Media) \u2013 The start of Monday\u2019s Week 1 finale between No. 19 SMU and \u200bFlorida State in Tallahassee, Fla., was \u200cdelayed because of a power outage at Doak Campbell Stadium.<\/p>\n
With the teams on the field and the game about to begin just before 7:30 p.m., \u200call \u200bthe lights inside the stadium \u2060went out. The \u2060teams remained on the sidelines for nearly 20 minutes while stadium personnel attempted to fix the problem, but they elected to \u200breturn to the locker rooms with the lights still out and insufficient natural light \u2060to begin play.<\/p>\n
The ESPN \u2060broadcast reported that the transformer blew \u200bduring an attempt to reset it and restore \u200bpower to the stadium. A backup plan \u200cis being developed.<\/p>\n
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips told ESPN that an update is expected at 8:20 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey kept saying they hope five \u2060to 10 (minutes),\u201d SMU coach Rhett Lashlee said on the broadcast when asked if he was told a \u2060timeline for \u200ca fix. \u201cThey found the problem. \u2060I think they\u2019re going to get \u200bit \u200cfixed. We just don\u2019t know if \u200bit\u2019s 10 \u2060minutes, 20 minutes. At this point, let\u2019s go in (to the locker room), come out and get the guys loose so nobody gets hurt and play when the lights come on.\u201d<\/p>\n
