{"id":393335,"date":"2026-09-08T03:38:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T03:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/393335\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T03:38:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T03:38:18","slug":"three-teens-jailed-after-mall-shooting-raises-concerns-about-tallahassee-gun-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/393335\/","title":{"rendered":"Three teens jailed after mall shooting raises concerns about Tallahassee gun violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TALLAHASSEE, Fla. &#8212; Three teenagers, including one 15-year-old were booked into the Leon County Jail over the weekend after a shooting at Governor&#8217;s Square Mall, an incident that is raising new questions about gun violence and public safety in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the mall shooting happened in the parking garage at Governor Square Mall and was one of two different crime scenes officers learned about over the weekend. Akeem Lindo, who was visiting Tallahassee, said, \u201cThis is one of the safest cities I have been in.\u201d Lindo also said, \u201cMy experiences have been super safe. I have been able to walk my girlfriend\u2019s dog late at night. Evan Alwine said officers work daily to protect the community from crime and gun violence. \u201cWe provide the opportunity to remove some pretty bad people off the streets,\u201d Alwine said. \u201cWe investigate the kind of heinous crimes that we want to remove people who are going to do harm to all the citizens or the regular day citizens that are trying to go about their daily life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mapping this year\u2019s shootings in Tallahassee shows what were described as three \u201chot spots\u201d in the north, south-central and east parts of the city.
