Investigators are hoping new surveillance video will help them find a hit-and-run driver who killed a man on a bicycle in Broward last month.<\/p>\n
Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said the victim, 44-year-old Lacurtis Knight, had been found lying on the grass swale in the 700 block of Southwest 10th Drive in Pompano Beach the morning of Aug. 23.<\/p>\n
Knight, of Tamarac, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Investigators later determined Knight had been riding his bicycle at another location, along the 400 block of Northeast 44th Street in Deerfield Beach, when he fell into the roadway.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video obtained by detectives and released by BSO on Tuesday showed a car coming to a stop after running over Knight before the driver gets out, walks to where the body is lying in the roadway and looks at Knight, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The driver then looked at the front of his car before getting back in and fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n
Authorities haven’t said how Knight got from the Deerfield Beach location to the one in Pompano Beach.<\/p>\n
Detectives believe the vehicle was dark blue or black and possibly a 2012-2022 Toyota Corolla, with a missing passenger side rear hubcap.<\/p>\n
A CrimeStoppers reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.<\/p>\n
