LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 About 800 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled from a <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/Port%20St.%20Lucie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Port St. Lucie <\/a>lift station Tuesday after the station lost full electrical power, according to a pollution notice filed with the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/Florida%20Department%20of%20Environmental%20Protection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Florida Department of Environmental Protection.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Utility staff discovered sewage escaping from the wet well lid at the WP-22 lift station at 170 SW Hawthorne Circle at about 11 a.m. during weekly station checks, the notice said.<\/p>\n<p>The wastewater was flowing onto the station driveway and a nearby swale at an estimated rate of 10 gallons per minute, according to the report. Staff determined the station was not receiving full FPL line power, reported the outage and deployed a backup generator to restart the pumps.<\/p>\n<p>The spill stopped at about 12:20 p.m., the report said.<\/p>\n<p>City staff estimated about 80 gallons, or 10% of the wastewater, soaked into the soil. A vacuum truck recovered about 720 gallons from the stone surface, grass and swale area, according to the notice.<\/p>\n<p>Workers disinfected the affected area with lime.
