The \u201990s are back, and they\u2019ve brought their fanny packs with them.<\/p>\n

This Friday, September 11, the I Love the \u201990s Tour arrives at Ferg\u2019s (1320 Central Ave.) for a four-hour nostalgia spectacular that\u2019s part concert, part communal memory wipe for anyone who still thinks frosted tips were a reasonable personal choice. The lineup includes Vanilla Ice, Montell Jordan, Tone Loc, and 2 Live Crew, which is essentially the Mount Rushmore of songs your parents definitely didn\u2019t want you listening to as a child. The show runs from 7 to 11 pm, with doors opening at 6 pm. Tickets are available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Vanilla Ice moved more than 15 million albums on the back of \u201cIce Ice Baby,\u201d a number that says more about the \u201990s than any documentary ever could. Montell Jordan\u2019s \u201cThis Is How We Do It\u201d was inescapable in ways that would today require a formal public health response. Tone Loc gave us \u201cFunky Cold Medina\u201d and \u201cWild Thing,\u201d two songs that seemed to exist in every possible space simultaneously, like a very upbeat form of air pollution. And 2 Live Crew, well, their music was literally banned in certain counties, which is both a cautionary tale and the greatest marketing strategy ever conceived. Nice.<\/p>\n

Attendees can expect to hear \u201cIce, Ice Baby,\u201d \u201cI Wanna Sex You Up,\u201d \u201cHip Hop Hooray,\u201d \u201cI Swear,\u201d \u201cFunky Cold Medina,\u201d and many more across the full four hours. The event is all ages and runs rain or shine, because the \u201990s never quit on you.<\/p>\n

Tickets start at $56.59 for general admission standing. VIP seated options run $179.99, and the Ultra VIP package clocks in at $399.99, which scores you front-of-stage seats in the first five rows plus a photo and meet-and-greet with the bands. If you\u2019re going to commit to nostalgia, you might as well commit entirely.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also worth noting that the nostalgia package comes with a laminate and lanyard, a tour poster, a slap bracelet, a fanny pack, and a keychain. A slap bracelet. In 2026. They\u2019ve brought back the slap bracelet, and you know what, that\u2019s somehow the most on-brand call anyone could have made. If they\u2019d included a Tamagotchi, this would officially be a perfect event.<\/p>\n
