PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. \u2014 International fashion designer based on the Treasure Coast, Kallee Jackson, can hardly contain her excitement. \u201cNew York Fashion Week!\u201d she exclaimed when WPTV Morning Anchor Ashley Glass asked Jackson where she was headed.<\/p>\n
Jackson\u2019s design students will show their original designs on the world stage that is New York Fashion Week. \u201cLiterally their own designs because these kids have created this from scratch,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n

Jackson said they\u2019ve worked very hard over many months to get to this point. \u201cThere were days they cried because this is hard, but they get up, and they keep moving, and that\u2019s all that matters,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The students, including Jackson\u2019s daughter, proudly showed Glass their pieces.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel grateful, and I feel hopeful, and I feel amazing about it because I know a lot of people don\u2019t have this opportunity,\u201d Jackson\u2019s daughter, also named Kallee, said.<\/p>\n
Another student, Kamryn Brown, said she is proud of her work in designing a gold and black strapless gown. \u201cThis is the first thing I\u2019ve ever sewn,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIt means a lot to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing able to make a project as big as this and go somewhere as big as New York Fashion Week, it\u2019s kind of a huge thing,\u201d design student Joslynn Hernandez said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m super hopeful for the next generation. I believe in investing in the next generation. That\u2019s the best way to create change,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n
