TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – In a unanimous vote during tonight\u2019s Tallahassee City Commission meeting, commissioners approved suspending all 150 ALPR cameras within the city. <\/p>\n
They say this includes two different types of ALPR\u2019s in the city, including \u201cFlock\u201d and \u201cMotorola.\u201d <\/p>\n
Officials say the cameras will be suspended \u201cvery rapidly,\u201d the same way the Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office did. <\/a><\/p>\n Dozens of public speakers at Wednesday\u2019s meeting spoke out against the cameras. Commissioner Jeremy Matlow said those residents\u2019 voices were heard.<\/p>\n \u201cThis decision is only changing because of you. If you weren\u2019t advocating for this, you would not see a change on this commission today and I know the majority of this commission tends to reject what the public is asking for time after time again but you show that the power of advocacy still works,\u201d Matlow said.<\/p>\n The decision follows other local partners <\/a>and other agencies across the state. <\/p>\n Matlow made a substitute motion to bag all the cameras starting tomorrow.
