The eight-week campaign is being held through a partnership with Eden Curated Cannabis and Marijuana Express M.D., with events planned in Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando, Cocoa Beach and Casselberry.<\/p>\n
The organization says it will cover the costs associated with qualifying for and obtaining a Florida medical marijuana card for participating veterans.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor 250 years, generations of Americans have answered the call to serve this country,\u201d Veterans Cannabis Care founder Robb Harmon said. \u201cAs we celebrate this historic anniversary, we wanted to find a meaningful way to give back to the men and women who defended the freedoms we enjoy today.\u201d<\/p>\n
Program aims to remove cost barriers<\/p>\n
Veterans Cannabis Care says it has helped cover the costs of more than 1,000 medical marijuana cards since the organization was founded in 2021.<\/p>\n
The nonprofit says veterans seeking its assistance often cite conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, sleep problems and anxiety.<\/p>\n
The organization maintains a waiting list of veterans seeking assistance and expects all 250 spots in the current campaign to be filled.<\/p>\n
Veterans Cannabis Care and its partners have committed more than $19,000 toward the initiative, according to the organization.<\/p>\n
Medical marijuana remains regulated under Florida law, and patients must meet state eligibility requirements before receiving a medical marijuana identification card.<\/p>\n
How veterans can apply<\/p>\n
