{"id":396339,"date":"2026-09-10T23:52:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T23:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/396339\/"},"modified":"2026-09-10T23:52:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T23:52:08","slug":"jobless-claims-dip-in-florida-tallahassee-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/396339\/","title":{"rendered":"Jobless Claims Dip In Florida \u2013 Tallahassee Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First-time jobless claims in Florida showed a slight decline over the prior two weeks as month-to-month business optimism dipped.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday estimated 5,365 initial unemployment claims were filed in Florida last week, down from a revised count of 5,458 the week ending Aug. 29, but up from the 5,205 posted for the week ending Aug. 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The numbers remain just below the year\u2019s average, now at 5,922 a week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, the National Federation of Independent Businesses reported its Small Business Optimism Index and Uncertainty Index both declined from July to August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFlorida\u2019s small business owners continue to report concerns about rising business costs and fewer sales, which has led to a dip in optimism,\u201d NFIB Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle said in a released statement. \u201cHiring on Main Street has also slowed as owners report labor quality or availability as a top challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the recent dips, the NFIB indexes both remain above their historic averages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nationally, the Department of Labor estimated 206,000 claims were filed last week, a decrease of 1,000 from the prior week\u2019s revised level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The national unemployment rate stands at 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida\u2019s unemployment rate stands at 4.6 percent, representing an estimated 515,000 Floridians qualified as out-of-work from a labor force of 11.1 million in July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"First-time jobless claims in Florida showed a slight decline over the prior two weeks as month-to-month business optimism&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":396340,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16],"tags":[232,234,233],"class_list":["post-396339","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tallahassee","tag-tallahassee","tag-tallahassee-headlines","tag-tallahassee-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/396339","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=396339"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/396339\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/396340"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=396339"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=396339"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=396339"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
