For more on the airline’s broader Florida network, see Allegiant’s earlier expansion across Florida.

Beginning February 13, 2027, Allegiant plans to launch nonstop service between:

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and Providence, Rhode Island (PVD)
St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)

All three routes are scheduled to operate through April 24, 2027.

They’re New Routes — But Only for a Limited Time

Travelers should pay particular attention to the dates because Allegiant describes these flights as “hyper-seasonal.”

Rather than operating throughout the year, the routes are being added specifically for the busy late-winter and spring travel period, when Florida attracts large numbers of visitors escaping colder northern climates and residents frequently travel north for family visits and spring vacations.

Allegiant says this type of limited-duration service allows the airline to shift aircraft into markets when demand is strongest without committing to operating a route throughout the entire year.

For Suncoast travelers, that means approximately 10 weeks of additional nonstop choices during one of Florida’s busiest travel seasons.

Sarasota Gets a New Nonstop Connection to Providence

The new SRQ–Providence flight could be particularly attractive to travelers headed to Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and other portions of New England.

Flights will operate between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD).

Located just outside Providence, T. F. Green also provides an alternative gateway for travelers heading toward southeastern Massachusetts and the greater Boston/New England region.

The addition gives Sarasota-Bradenton travelers another Northeast destination without requiring a connection through a major airline hub.

Allegiant already has a substantial presence at SRQ, offering nonstop service to numerous cities primarily in the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast.

Boston Nonstop Coming to St. Pete-Clearwater

At St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, Allegiant will introduce nonstop flights to Boston Logan International Airport during the same February 13-April 24 period.

The Boston route is another expansion of an already extensive Allegiant operation at PIE.

St. Pete-Clearwater International says travelers currently have access to more than 60 nonstop destinations, with Allegiant serving as the airport’s dominant passenger airline.

The airport has been particularly successful in attracting travelers looking for an alternative to Tampa International Airport, especially passengers flying between Florida and smaller or midsize cities around the country.

Punta Gorda Also Lands Boston Service

The August announcement contains another addition that wasn’t the primary focus of the Tampa Bay report but is significant for residents farther south on the Florida Suncoast.

Punta Gorda Airport will also receive nonstop service to Boston Logan beginning February 13.

The PGD-Boston flights are scheduled to operate through April 24, giving Charlotte County, southern Sarasota County and Southwest Florida residents another option for reaching New England without traveling to Fort Myers, Sarasota or Tampa.

That addition continues Allegiant’s long relationship with Punta Gorda Airport, where the airline accounts for the overwhelming majority of scheduled passenger service. The airport is also preparing for a major expansion described in this recent Punta Gorda Airport update.

Why Allegiant Is Experimenting With “Hyper-Seasonal” Flights

The unusual operating schedule reflects Allegiant’s business model.

Unlike large network airlines that funnel travelers through major connecting hubs, Allegiant has historically concentrated on point-to-point nonstop leisure routes, often connecting underserved cities directly with vacation destinations.

Allegiant Chief Commercial Officer Drew Wells said the new routes demonstrate the flexibility of the company’s model and its ability to add service when and where leisure demand is strongest.

The carrier said seven of the nine routes announced August 17 will operate only during peak spring travel periods.

In addition to the three Florida Gulf Coast routes, Allegiant is adding seasonal or limited service involving Orlando/Sanford, Fort Lauderdale and other destinations.

Allegiant’s Florida Presence Continues to Grow

The announcement provides another indication of just how important Florida has become to Allegiant’s national network.

Instead of concentrating all Tampa Bay-area service at Tampa International Airport, Allegiant has developed substantial operations at smaller airports including St. Pete-Clearwater, Sarasota-Bradenton and Punta Gorda.

That strategy offers travelers another choice: smaller airports that can often mean shorter walks, easier parking and less time navigating large terminals.

It also gives visitors direct access to different sections of Florida’s Gulf Coast. A passenger flying into SRQ, for example, lands close to Sarasota, Bradenton and Anna Maria Island. PIE provides convenient access to St. Petersburg and Clearwater, while PGD serves Punta Gorda, Charlotte Harbor and much of Southwest Florida. Depending on the fare purchased, passengers may pay additional charges for services including checked luggage, larger carry-on bags, advance seat assignments and other options.

Flight frequencies may also vary by week, particularly because these new routes aren’t daily flights.

Anyone planning a trip should check Allegiant’s booking calendar for the exact operating days before arranging hotels, rental cars or connecting transportation.

One Detail in Allegiant’s Announcement Deserves Clarification

Allegiant’s August 17 press release promotes introductory one-way fares starting as low as $49 on some newly announced routes.

However, the fare fine print on the airline’s published announcement contains what appears to be an inconsistency: it lists an August 15, 2026 purchase deadline for certain introductory fares even though the release itself is dated August 17, 2026.

Because of that discrepancy, travelers should rely on the current prices displayed directly on Allegiant’s booking website rather than assuming an advertised introductory fare remains available.

What This Means for Florida Suncoast Travelers

For residents from Pinellas County south through Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties, Allegiant’s latest expansion creates something increasingly valuable: more nonstop choices without automatically having to drive to a major hub airport.

The three routes are particularly well-timed for seasonal residents, families with New England connections and visitors coming to Florida during February, March and April.

The biggest limitation is their short operating window.

For now, the flights are scheduled only from February 13 through April 24, 2027. Whether any become longer seasonal routes — or eventually permanent additions — will likely depend on passenger demand.

Tickets for the new routes are available through Allegiant.

Helpful Links

Related Stories

Florida Suncoast travelers will have several new nonstop options for heading north next spring as Allegiant Air expands…

[13
11687,31886,20576,33975,37762,14484,15550,202,32645,204,203,199,201,200
post-396453","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-st-petersburg","tag-air-travel","tag-allegiant-air","tag-flights","tag-nonstop-flights","tag-providence","tag-punta-gorda","tag-punta-gorda-airport","tag-st-pete","tag-st-pete-clearwater-international-airport","tag-st-pete-headlines","tag-st-pete-news","tag-st-petersburg","tag-st-petersburg-headlines","tag-st-petersburg-news
["GET
