Stone III Stadium.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSouth Carolina&#8217;s Reese Slater scored the match&#8217;s only goal in the 40th minute. Autumn Cayelli&#8217;s shot was deflected, sending the ball across the box to Slater, who finished from 12 yards.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFlorida (19-9-4 all-time in SEC openers) created several of its best first-half opportunities in the final five minutes.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/floridagators.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/zoe-main\/18239\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"18239\" target=\"_blank\">Zoe Main&#8217;s<\/a> strike clipped the crossbar before she sent an angled shot from inside the box just wide of the far post three minutes later. The Gators generated four shots in the final 20 seconds of the half, including attempts by <a href=\"https:\/\/floridagators.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/tatum-borman\/18243\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"18243\" target=\"_blank\">Tatum Borman<\/a> and Main that South Carolina goalkeeper Christina Tsaousis saved in the final four seconds.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFlorida continued to generate chances but could not find the equalizer. The Gators finished with a 15-10 advantage in shots, while each team put three shots on goal.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Sept. 8 <a href=\"https:\/\/unitedsoccercoaches.org\/rankings\/college-rankings\/ncaa-di-women\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">United Soccer Coaches Poll<\/a>\u00a0includes six SEC teams.
