Two Miami stars might have improved their Heisman Trophy odds during a historic Thursday night blowout of Florida A&M.<\/p>\n

Quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Malachi Toney combined for multiple highlight-reel plays while leading the Hurricanes to a 49-0 first-half lead.<\/p>\n

Mensah and Toney sat out the second half. The Hurricanes went on to set a single-game program scoring record<\/a> before agreeing to a shortened fourth quarter to close out their 77-7 victory.<\/p>\n

Here’s a look at Mensah and Toney’s stats and highlights from Thursday’s first half.<\/p>\n

After running back Mark Fletcher Jr. started out the game with a rushing touchdown, Mensah sent a deep pass to Joshua Moore for a 55-yard score on Miami’s second offensive drive.<\/p>\n

Mensah’s next deep throw went to Toney, who evaded pressure from Florida A&M’s Frank Callum to make a 52-yard catch on the Hurricanes’ fourth offensive drive.<\/p>\n

Toney finished off the possession by running in Miami’s fourth straight touchdown and hitting the Heisman pose.<\/p>\n

Mensah then connected with Cooper Barkate for his third passing touchdown of the game midway through the second quarter.<\/p>\n

Toney and Mensah were already considered favorites<\/a> to be named the top player in college football before showing off their arm strength and speed, respectively, against Florida A&M.<\/p>\n

Mensah had improved his season-long passing percentage to 91 percent by the end of the first half.<\/p>\n
