Dare to be scared in Southwest Florida next weekend?<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Sept. 19, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Fort Myers, Florida Horror-Fest arrives from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Organizers are calling all horror fans, movie buffs, and pop culture collectors to indulge and be immersed in what is an event striving to be Florida\u2019s best and truest horror convention featuring fandoms spanning multiple genres.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFlorida Horror-Fest is built by long-time collectors, for collectors,\u201d said event organizers in a release. \u201cOur goal is to give the Fort Myers community a focused, high-energy environment where they can hunt for their favorite memorabilia, meet industry professionals, and share their passions with thousands of local peers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Florida Horror-Fest is promises to be a dedicated mecca designed for every tier of fan \u2014 from vintage horror memorabilia seekers to modern thriller buffs. The convention will feature a sprawling marketplace packed with vendors, local artists, and exhibitors showcasing a massive variety of comic books, magazines, toys, movies, movie posters, artwork sketches, apparel, and more.<\/p>\n
Event highlights include:<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0 The Horror Marketplace:\u00a0Dozens of specialized vendors buying, selling, and trading rare horror collectibles, hard-to-find movie posters, and retro monster toys.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0 Celebrity meet-and-greets:\u00a0Fan-favorite industry professionals and celebrities will be in attendance for exclusive signings and photo opportunities throughout the day, featuring actor\u00a0Warrington Gillette\u00a0(Jason from\u00a0\u201cFriday the 13th Part 2\u201d) and actor\u00a0James C. Leary\u00a0(Clem from\u00a0\u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d).<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0 Family-accessible pricing:\u00a0General admission is $20. Kids 11 and under are free to enter (limit one child per paid adult admission), and additional children 11 and under are $10.<\/p>\n
There will also be a runway costume contest starting at 4 p.m. Contestants can enter in store-bought or homemade costumes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Prizes will be awarded for best of show, best make-up, scariest costume, best classic horror, and best youth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
