The City of Port St. Lucie <\/a>will bring the community together Friday morning to honor the victims, survivors and first responders of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, 25 years after the tragedy.<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s<\/a> annual 9\/11 Remembrance Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Memorial Fountain at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center<\/a>, located at 9221 Event Center Place. <\/p>\n

City officials say the ceremony will serve as a time for reflection while honoring the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and recognizing the strength and unity shown in the years since.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s ceremony will include remarks from Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin, Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk and St. Lucie County Fire District Firefighter\/Paramedic Allen Civita. Port St. Lucie Police Department Chaplain Nick Manzie will deliver an invocation. <\/p>\n

Retired New York City Police Department detective Rafael Diaz will serve as the guest speaker. The Port St. Lucie High School Choir will also perform during the ceremony. <\/p>\n

Members of the St. Lucie County Fire District, Port St. Lucie Police Department and St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office are expected to participate.<\/p>\n

Following the ceremony, attendees are invited inside the MIDFLORIDA Event Center<\/a> for light refreshments. <\/p>\n
