Miami, FL – Two social media influencers will remain in federal custody while a Miami court considers whether they should be extradited to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
U.S. Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis denied Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate\u2019s release request Wednesday, finding they failed to show they were not flight risks or dangers to the community. <\/p>\n
Louis also determined that no special circumstances justified their release.<\/p>\n
The dual American and British citizens have been detained in Miami since their July 18 arrests. <\/p>\n
British authorities are seeking their extradition over alleged offenses involving rape, assault and facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.<\/p>\n
Court records indicate the accusations involve multiple women and alleged conduct between July 2010 and August 2017. <\/p>\n
The brothers have denied wrongdoing and have not entered pleas in a British court.<\/p>\n
Defense attorneys proposed bond, electronic monitoring and surrendering their passports.<\/p>\n
They argued the brothers\u2019 public profiles would make fleeing difficult and said their online displays of wealth were exaggerated.<\/p>\n
Louis cited their financial resources and international travel, concluding that they could leave the jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors argued that the alleged offenses also presented public safety concerns.<\/p>\n
The defense said detention could interfere with separate Romanian proceedings and indicated an appeal may be considered.<\/p>\n
Romanian prosecutors recently indicted Andrew Tate on charges of allegedly trafficking minors, laundering money, having sex with a minor and tampering with witnesses.<\/p>\n
Tristan Tate was indicted for alleged complicity. Both deny the accusations.<\/p>\n
Britain has until September 16th to submit supporting materials for its extradition request.<\/p>\n
