Bomb threat prompts evacuation at Indian River State College’s Massey Campus<\/p>\n

A bomb threat prompted an evacuation at Indian River State College’s Massey Campus Friday morning. Officials issued an emergency alert calling the threat credible and urging students, faculty and staff to leave the area immediately as law enforcement investigates.<\/p>\n

A bomb threat prompted an evacuation Friday morning at the Massey Campus of Indian River State College in Fort Pierce.<\/p>\n

According to an emergency notification sent through the college’s RiverAlert system, a “credible bomb threat” was reported at the campus. The alert instructed students, faculty and staff to evacuate the area immediately and follow directions from emergency personnel and law enforcement.<\/p>\n

“Evacuate area immediately. Follow instructions from emergency personnel and authorities,” the alert stated.<\/p>\n

The notification also advised people to avoid using cell phones or radio equipment within 300 feet of the location.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post, Indian River State College said that, as a precautionary measure, College President Timothy Moore elected to close the Massey Campus and directed all employees and students assigned to the campus to work remotely.<\/p>\n

“As a precautionary measure, the College President has elected to close the Massey campus and directed a work-from-home directive for all employees and students on the Massey campus,” the college wrote.<\/p>\n

At this time, authorities have not released details about the nature of the threat, whether any suspicious devices have been located, or how long the evacuation is expected to remain in place.<\/p>\n

No injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n

WPBF 25 News has reached out to law enforcement and Indian River State College officials for additional information and is awaiting details.<\/p>\n
