JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on the city\u2019s Westside.<\/p>\n
JSO says it happened around 3:40 Friday morning off the 3100 block of 20th Street West.<\/p>\n
They said they arrived on scene to find a man in his mid-30\u2019s shot multiple times in both of his arms and his back.<\/p>\n
That man was taken to a local hospital, and his injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n
JSO says the shooting happened after two masked men broke into the home.<\/p>\n
They said there was a brief struggle between one of the suspects and the victim.<\/p>\n
JSO said detectives with their robbery and violent crime unit were interviewing witnesses and canvassing for surveillance video.<\/p>\n
One Jacksonville resident for over 30 years says this is why she stays prepared.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would hope that they had weapons in their home to be for self-defense,\u201d she said. \u201cIf anybody broke into our home, you know, we\u2019re prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n
She says the idea of someone breaking into her home is scary, especially as someone with a family.<\/p>\n
\u201cHave protection, either a dog or a gun,\u201d she said. \u201cProtecting yourself is the main thing because they don\u2019t care when they break into your home \u2014 they\u2019re coming in.\u201d<\/p>\n
