Believe it or not, spooky season has already begun, and over at Jungle Island on Watson Island, spooky doesn\u2019t even cover it. The word \u201cscary\u201d barely does, because at The Horrorland, open now, your worst nightmares are about to come true.<\/p>\n
The nightmares are back \u2014 and busy.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cEveryone is going to be like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m not afraid of anything,\u2019 but Horrorland will find your deepest and darkest nightmare and take it out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Horrorland has taken over Jungle Island again\u2026 and this year, scream season is bigger than ever.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cThe moment you walk into Horrorland, it\u2019s completely unexpected what\u2019s going to happen to you.\u201d<\/p>\n
With six brand-new haunted houses, four scare zones, and 18 acres of\u2026 <\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cWhat the hell am I looking at? Because no one expects it. You\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s a broomstick.\u2019 And it\u2019s like, everyone is on the broomstick, apparently.\u201d<\/p>\n
Including a cursed honky tonk full of undead bikers, and \u201cDr. Malice,\u201d where the science is a little sus.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cI think the lab is going to get through people\u2019s head a lot, especially because of the locker system. I don\u2019t want to spoil it.\u201d<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also \u201cThe Coven,\u201d with immortal witches.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201c\u2018The Coven\u2019 is, for me, the creepiest house, the scariest house here. It feels like you\u2019re not in Miami. It feels like you\u2019re in some forest in Massachusetts or something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSeven Deadly Sins,\u201d which sends you straight through the underworld\u2026<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cAnd then, every single house this year sort of has like an element of interaction, which brings you more into the house.\u201d<\/p>\n
And even when you escape the houses, you haven\u2019t really escaped anything.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cOutside of our houses, we have our Frankenstein bar, which I feel is a home run this year. It\u2019s completely different to what we\u2019re used to doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
And the award-winning \u201cCircus of Terror\u201d is also back, with acrobats, aerialists and fire.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cDifferent as last year. We have a knife-throwing act. We have different things which will scare you.\u201d<\/p>\n
And every night at 7:30, the Monster Parade officially kicks things off.<\/p>\n
Lina Santos: \u201cSo that\u2019s why I say get here early, because that is something that if you miss, you won\u2019t catch it again unless you decide to come another day.\u201d<\/p>\n
Horrorland runs on select nights at Jungle Island through Nov. 1. General admission is $40.<\/p>\n
