Supergroups are almost never quite the sum of their star parts. Once in a long lucky while, however, along comes a true gestalt, a nuclear fusion that yields something truly great on its own. In the 21st century, few are better examples than multimedia phenoms Gorillaz, the once-in-a-generation alchemy of Blur\u2019s Damon Albarn, celebrity illustrator Jamie Hewlett and a star cast of collaborators.<\/p>\n

Now, a quarter-century on, Gorillaz still remain one of the most innovative bands in pop history. Their first extensive North American tour in nearly five years launches here in Orlando. The also-great openers will be British rap slayer Little Simz and Deltron 3030, the uber-legit supergroup of Dan the Automator, Del the Funky Homosapien and DJ Kid Koala. This is one of the year\u2019s most anticipated arrivals.<\/p>\n
