JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Blight Unit officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office teamed up with the city of for the first-ever shopping cart round-up.<\/p>\n
Employees formed a posse along Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard, collecting 54 abandoned shopping carts. Some were filled with trash, others had been pushed into the woods.<\/p>\n
The carts were collected, removed from streets, sidewalks and neighborhoods, and returned to the stores they belong to.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis may seem like a small issue, but abandoned carts can quickly collect garbage and become an eyesore,\u201d a news release from JSO said. \u201cTackling these issues is just one of many ways we try to keep Jacksonville looking its best.\u201d<\/p>\n
